Did a quick set-up for the Canopus in capture settings, hit the analog button and there it was. Captured about 10 minutes and the result was perfect, not one single dropped frame, and no dropped connection. Hit the play button on the VCR and there was the picture, hit capture and away I go.

I connected the RCA cord from my VCR to the front of the unit, and opened WinDv just to test it out, clicked the analog switch on the front and there was the blank blue VCR screen.

After a short glance at a short manual, I plugged in the Firewire and was immediately presented with the Windows recognition sound. All other cords need to be user supplied, no problem for me. There is no on/off switch, but I'll unplug it anyway when not in use so I suppose I can overlook that.īesides the unit itself, they supply only a 6 pin firewire cord and the manual. The dip switches are located on the bottom of the unit and there is no power supply, it is powered by the firewire connection. It's slightly smaller than the Pyro unit, although it feels a little heavier and white instead of black, otherwise the connections are just about the same. After a week of total frustration with the Ads Pyro Link of dropped connections and hundreds of dropped frames when it did actuallly decide to work for a few minutes. The Canopus arrived today.
